How We Make Pipe Repair Easy

Out of sight is out of mind – so, naturally, nobody worries about drainage until something goes wrong. But when the worst happens like an overflowing drain, it can be a frustrating, disruptive experience. For Sydney property owners, costs, and repair methods can be challenging to understand because problems typically occur underground.

We make pipe repairs less of an ordeal. We use no-dig technology, so we can locate problems quickly and carry out fast, tidy repairs that won’t put a dent in your property. They’re also cheaper and last a lot longer than alternative solutions, and you’ll hardly know we’ve visited. Many jobs can be carried out in just one day, leaving your landscaping and home intact.

Our quotes are designed to be informative, so even when a blockage or damage occurs deep underground, you’ll never be in the dark. We endeavour to provide clear, easily understood information and a transparent up-front price. For extra peace of mind, we offer a 35-year guarantee that comes with a free annual inspection for its lifetime.

I am on the strata committee for a 50+ year-old building in Waverton. We had issues with our main sewer line blocking up. Regular flushing of the line worked okay for a while – but we knew at some point we needed to get a relining of the main pipe. Matt came onsite to inspect the line and provided a clear report on the state of the line, the recommended actions and a competitive quote. He was friendly and professional from beginning to end. Matt and the boys have now successfully completed the job. Fred, the operations manager, was easily contactable and very helpful at every step along the way. Would recommend for any individual or strata scheme who need their pipes relined.

Matan answered my call promptly and diagnosed the problem within the hour. Such a friendly guy that I booked him in for the following week. He knew what he was doing and what he was looking for. Bit of a challenging job but his old man got down the manhole and sorted out that challenge. Highly recommend this company...

I had a sewer pipe that was getting blocked with tree roots every 6 months. I 100% recommend this company for any relining jobs. They did not charge for a site inspection to provide an assessment and quote on the job. As part of the assessment they went beyond and inspect other section of the pipe and found another area that also need repairs. Fred the operational manager was friendly and polite, patiently explained the quote and process. The entire process of accepting the quote to performing the repairs went smoothly and I was always updated with the progress. The price was competitive with competitors, but their service was no.1. Will recommend them to family and friends for any relining and block drains work.

Matt was highly experienced and able to locate a problem that other plumbers had given up on. Matt and Greg were very thorough, taking well over an hour investigating stormwater drains, sewer lines & tracking 70 year old plumbing. Lots of specialised equipment used and the guys even cleaned up debris on the road from pressure washing the pipes. I would highly recommend Matt & his team for complex blockages.

I find myself casting a wary eye over reviews, but Pipe Relining Solutions (PRS) really were deserving of its 5-star rating.Unlike others who I contacted to look at my pipe relining need, PRS did not charge to put a camera in the drain, did not charge a callout fee and ultimately did not separately charge to remove the tangle of fine roots blocking the drain. The plumber came, inspected, quoted one very competitive price and got on with the job just a few days later. The courtesy, presentation and professionalism of the boys - and their truck - were exemplary. And the work is guaranteed for many years to come. I doubt you'd do better.

We had a tricky blocked drain issue and Matt and his son sorted us out in no time. Through out the process, they were careful to not make a mess of our laundry. Matt took his time to explain to us the long term issue and what we should do to prevent this from happening in the future. Their pricing is also competitive..top rated service!

I had cracked boundary shaft junction relined by Pipe Relining Solutions. From the first contact with their office, Fred took time examining sewerage diagram and thoroughly explaining the procedure. Matt came for site inspection to provide quotation and again, he was so patient in answering all my questions. The works were completed yesterday as scheduled and I was provided with a video recordings of their work. Everyone at Pipe Relining Solutions was very professional and pleasant to deal with. I have no hesitation to recommend their service to any prospective customer.

From first contact with Fred in the office, to on-site work first by Ethan, then followed up with Mark, Bruno & Matt, I was impressed. Every person on this team is outstanding. I had concerns, not dealing with anything like this before, and as each step was carefully explained & shown to me live via a camera in the pipes, diagrams being drawn, all my anxiety was reduced. I do highly recommend this organisation for their calm professionalism and expertise in doing a great job, plus excellent cleaning up afterwards as well!

Excellent service and a pleasure to deal with. Reasonably priced, and the work comes with a 35 year warranty, which is probably longer than we will own the home for. Office staff was friendly and efficient, and technicians were skilled and did a good job cleaning up afterwards. The before-and-after movies are a good thing to have.

Having so many 5 star ratings almost looks suspicious, but I can confirm there is a reason these guys get such a good rating. Mark who came out on time to quote the job and complete the repair and Fred in the office were both friendly and professional. All of the team on the day knew what they were doing, we're quick, efficient and they both turned up on time and completed the job when they said they would. We had an old earthenware pipe that was getting roots into it. We could have dug it up and replaced it, but that would have meant being without the only toilet for longer and the extra hassle and disruption of breaking up a concrete path and reinstating.I was sent videos of the pipe before clearing, after clearing and then after the relining. Every step and what to expect was also clearly explained. The team cleaned up everything after the work (which I've found isn't so common these days).Hopefully I won't need to fix anymore pipes soon, but if I do I would happily use them again and recommend to anyone else.

Matt and the team at Pipe Relining Solutions are outstanding. I am a licensed builder and had sewer and storm water issues on a current job. Matt attended site promptly, his knowledge, care and skill are in a different league. He did not stop until every issue was identified, the video footage and reporting was so detailed and their costs to do proper works was more than competitive. Thank you for your professional industry leading service.

Fred and Connor and their team of workers did a great job for us. They inspired confidence in the initial diagnosis of the problem, using a camera inspection and then sharing the evidence with us. We booked them in to carry out a relining job to resolve the issue. They were prompt, well organised, great communicators and absolutely professional every step of the way. They provided excellent video evidence of the completed job, inspiring confidence about the quality of the result. I would definitely recommend them to others and use their services again.

If you are looking for a genuine, experienced, high-quality plumber with transparent advice and competitive prices then stop looking and just contact Matt and the team!We engaged Pipe Relining Solutions for lining our boundary trap. On the day of the quote Matt arrived on time, inspected our sewer, and went out of his way to fix a dripping toilet cistern after another plumber had incorrectly replaced the washer. The quote provided was prompt and very detailed. We knew exactly what we were paying for and there was no confusion or ambiguity around the work. On the day everyone turned up on time and were polite, COVID safe, and respectful. We were kept updated throughout the day and were never out of the loop. Our property was appropriately protected with lots of drop sheets (we have a terrace so everything had to be brought through the house to the backyard) and was left clean and tidy once work was completed. Throughout the day it was clear every person on site was contentious about the quality of their work and took care around our home.Among the many positive things I could say about this company, what stood out for me is that Matt and the team are so incredibly generous with their time and expertise. We had a number of issues in our property, some of which were created by another plumber, and Matt helped us correct these issues and went out of his way to set us up for some planned future works on the house. We honestly could not be happier and wish we could do more to promote this business so they are around forever and we never have to work with another plumber again!

WELCOME TO PIPE RELINING SOLUTIONS

When underground pipes are broken, leak or get blocked, it’s always unwanted. Pipe problems are not just a major inconvenience; they can be expensive and damage property. But, what if we told you that it’s possible to save significant amounts of money, a lot of time and effort, and minimise disruption the next time you have a broken sewer or blocked drain in Sydney? All you need to remember is don’t dig until you talk to Pipe Relining Solutions. This is why:

Pipe Relining Solutions Can Reline Blocked, Cracked, Leaking And Root-Infested Pipes.

Versatile, eco-friendly no dig pipe repair that lasts a long, long time

Pipe relining has fast become the go-to method for low-impact, high-economy pipe and sewer repairs in Australia – and Pipe Relining Solutions has been doing it for longer than anyone else. Both commercial organisations and private homeowners or landlords save huge amounts of money and inconvenience with an innovative and reliable no-dig drain repair solution that negates the need for costly downtime and reinstatement of hard and soft landscaping, roads, or commercial infrastructure.

Pipe Relining Solutions offers a 35-year guarantee, while typical excavation and replacement of pipes with inferior PVC products offers much shorter warranties – sometimes just one year. Pipe reline materials provide a higher flow rate than clay or PVC pipes, and our system works for pipes as small as 50mm or as big as 350mm.

Cost-effective and fast no dig pipe repairs

Underground pipe relining repairs mean no, or minimal, expensive, time-consuming digging. We use a high-pressure water jet to clear pipes of debris and then install a durable, resin-impregnated liner using compressed air. We then cure the resin with hot water, forming a watertight seal.  The resin hardens quickly, creating a ‘pipe within a pipe,’ so minimal or even no excavation is required compared to traditional pipe replacement. Plus, once the resin is cured, the pipe is ready to use. All of this means pipe repair time gets reduced dramatically. In many cases, we can complete our work in just one day – and all from above ground.

We’re very experienced

Pipe Relining Solutions is one of Australia’s pipe reline services pioneers, so you’re in the best hands possible – we’ve been pipe relining contractors in Sydney for more than thirteen years. During that time, we’ve helped hundreds of landlords and homeowners solve underground pipe problems such as blocked drains, overflowing sewers and broken stormwater drains. Plus we can complete the bigger sewer and drain repair jobs just as quickly, efficiently, and effectively. Pipe Relining Solutions carries out pipe relining for commercial clients like Qantas, Sydney councils, Westconnex, and the Sydney Opera House.

We have highly trained relining technicians

Pipe relining is a specialised service, and although we’re licensed plumbers, it’s all we do every day. That means our guys undertake extensive, intensive specialist training here in Australia and with our product partners in Germany. All Pipe Relining Solutions technicians receive between twelve and eighteen months of training to operate custom vehicles and specialised equipment like robotic cutters and inversion drums.

We use the best trenchless materials and equipment

Even the best pipe relining technicians are only as good as the materials they use, and that’s why we use Brawoliner products. Like most pipe relining materials, Brawoliner is manufactured overseas, but it’s fully approved for harsher local conditions by the Australian Building Codes Board’s Watermark Scheme. Good adhesion is another essential part of effective, long-lasting pipe reline repairs, and Pipe Relining Solutions only uses epoxy resin to ensure a great job.

We put customers and quality first

Customers and quality drive everything we do. Each pipe relining solution we devise is about ensuring a long-term, affordable repair and making our customers happy. Pipe Relining Solutions sets the bar for competitive Sydney pipe relining standards, so if you’re having drain or sewer trouble, be sure to give us a call or fill out the online enquiry form. We love to hear from customers, solve problems, and find ways to make your Sydney pipe reline solution more affordable.

If you’d prefer to learn even more about our innovative pipe repair methods and commitment to excellence first, our website is just as informative. You can read case studies and hear from satisfied customers, read about sewer inspections, and even learn what you need to know before getting a pipe relining quote.

Pipe relining or pipe lining is a method of rehabilitating or repairing sewer and storm water pipes with little to no digging. A seamless liner is cut to length, soaked in environmentally safe resin and applied to the pipe work via an access point and compressed air.

The result is a completely new pipe within the structure of the old pipe. The relined pipe is 100% watertight and stronger than PVC to protect against tree root penetration and cracking. It also provides an optimal flow rate compared to standard pipes.

If you have blocked, broken or damaged pipes there are 2 main solutions available to you:

  • Dig up and replace the existing pipework
  • Opt for a non-invasive method such as pipe relining

With both options, the quality of the installation is critical. If dig and replace is executed poorly, you will have weak areas in your pipe work where tree roots can enter. Similarly with pipe relining: if the installation is badly executed or the product is inferior, you may have further problems down the track.

It’s important to engage an experienced, licensed drain plumber when fixing any part of your plumbing system.

Pipe relining is a highly effective method for repairing damaged pipes. When performed by a skilled and experienced plumber, pipe relining can significantly extend the lifespan of your pipes, prevent leaks and blockages, and restore the flow of waste through your plumbing system.

Pipe relining uses innovative materials and techniques to create a seamless, durable, and long-lasting repair solution that can withstand the demands of daily use. The relined pipes are designed to be strong, flexible, and resistant to corrosion, cracking, and root intrusion, and are expected to last for many years.

However, the effectiveness of pipe relining depends on various factors, such as the type and extent of damage to the pipe, the quality of materials and equipment used, and the skill and experience of the plumber performing the work.

It’s essential to choose a reliable and reputable drainage plumber who has extensive experience in pipe relining and a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.

Pipe Relining Solutions will review your relined pipe work annually. If we find any problems in the pipe work during the inspection, Pipe Relining Solutions will fix the problem free of charge.

The guarantee provided by Pipe Relining Solutions provides the certainty that if you experience any drainage issues on the relined section within 35 years of your relining work being installed, Pipe Relining Solutions will repair the pipe at no additional cost.

The cost of pipe relining varies depending on several factors, including:

  1. The size and location of the pipes
  2. The extent of damage to the pipes
  3. The type of material used for relining
  4. The cost of labor and equipment
  5. The complexity of the project

On average, pipe relining costs anywhere from $500 to $700 per meter for domestic sewer and storm water repairs, but this can vary depending on the factors listed above. In some cases, the cost may be higher if the pipes are difficult to access or if the project requires specialised equipment.

It’s important to obtain several quotes from reputable relining installers to compare prices and ensure that you’re getting a fair and competitive price for the work.

You should also consider the long-term benefits of pipe relining, such as increased reliability and longevity of your plumbing system, when evaluating the overall cost of the project.

Try out our calculator to estimate the cost of your job here. Please note that to provide you with an accurate quote, we will need to visit your property to conduct a thorough inspection of your pipes.

Find out more about the cost of pipe relining.

Pipe relining can be more expensive than traditional pipe replacement methods because it requires specialised equipment, materials, and skilled lining installers.

The process involves the use of flexible, durable materials that are inserted into the damaged pipe and then inflated to form a new inner surface, which can be more expensive than traditional pipe repair methods.

Additionally, the cost of labour and equipment is higher because pipe relining requires more expertise and precision than traditional pipe replacement methods. The reline installers must have a deep understanding of the materials, techniques, and equipment used, as well as a high level of skill and experience, to perform the work correctly.

The benefits of pipe relining often outweigh the cost, especially when compared to traditional pipe replacement methods.

Pipe relining is a minimally invasive, cost-effective, and time-efficient solution that can significantly extend the lifespan of your pipes and prevent leaks, blockages, and other issues from occurring in the future. Additionally, because it does not require excavation, it can save you money on restoration and repair costs associated with traditional pipe replacement methods.

Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages and the appropriate method depends on the condition of the pipe, the location of the damage, and the specific needs of the job. A professional plumber or pipe repair specialist can determine which method is best for your particular situation.

Digging can be a good option if the damaged line is located in a shallow, grassed area.

Conversely, if the line is inaccessible, e.g. under a garden or bathroom that you don’t want to disturb, then relining is the best option. It minimises the impact to surrounding areas resulting in less mess and disruption and provides more effective protection from root penetration than newly installed PVC or earthenware pipes. Pipe relining also reduces the cost, time and hassle required to restore your property and landscaping. It’s fast! Most jobs can be completed within one day.

Not only that, you also receive a 35 year guarantee on the relined pipe work, whereas we can only provide you with a 1 year guarantee on newly installed pipes.

Pipe relining can be used to repair a wide range of damage to pipes, including:

  1. Cracks: Small cracks in the pipes can lead to leaks and reduce the flow of water or waste through the plumbing system. Pipe relining can be used to repair these cracks and prevent leaks from occurring.
  2. Corrosion: Over time, pipes can become corroded due to exposure to chemicals and other substances. Pipe lining can be used to repair corroded pipes and extend their lifespan.
  3. Root intrusion: Tree roots can invade pipes and cause blockages. No dig pipe repair can be used to repair pipes that have been damaged by root intrusion and restore the flow of water or waste through the plumbing system.
  4. Bellying: Over time, pipes can sag or “belly” due to soil movement, leading to blockages and reduced flow. Trenchless pipe relining can be used to repair pipes that have become “bellied” and restore their shape and function.
  5. Offsets: Pipes can become offset due to soil movement, leading to blockages and reduced flow. Relining can be used to repair pipes that have become offset and restore their shape and function.

Pipe relining can be used to repair broken, cracked or damaged earthenware sewer and storm water lines, junctions and boundary traps. Even pipes that are only partially intact can still be relined as long as there is a structure to contain the resin impregnated liner.

Pipe relining can be used to repair pipes made from a variety of materials, including concrete, earthenware, PVC, copper, asbestos and more.

Pipe lining is a cost-effective and minimally invasive alternative to traditional pipe replacement methods and can be used to repair pipes located in a variety of locations, including underground, inside walls, and in hard-to-reach areas.

Whether pipe relining is worth it depends on several factors, including:

  1. The extent of damage to your pipes: If the damage to your pipes is minor, such as a small crack or corrosion, relining may be a more cost-effective solution than traditional pipe replacement methods.
  2. The location of your pipes: If your pipes are located in hard-to-reach areas, such as underground or inside walls, relining may be a more attractive option than traditional pipe replacement methods because it does not require excavation.
  3. The cost of the project: The cost of pipe relining will depend on various factors, such as the size and location of the pipes, the extent of damage, and the cost of materials and labour.

When making any decisions about repair work, it’s important to obtain several quotes from reputable, experienced relining installers and compare prices to determine if relining is worth the cost.

No, pipe relining is not a temporary fix. In fact, it is often considered a permanent solution for repairing damaged pipes. The materials used in pipe relining are durable and long-lasting, and the process of relining involves creating a new inner surface for the damaged pipe.

Pipes that have been relined using German engineered relining technology such as Brawoliner are designed to last for up to 50 years.

Relined pipes are rehabilitated to resist the effects of corrosion, root intrusion, and other common causes of damage to pipes. When properly installed, relined pipes can last longer than PVC pipes.

To provide additional peace of mind, Pipe Relining Solutions provides a 35 year guarantee on your relined sections of pipe work.

Sewer pipe repair is the most common service that Pipe Relining Solutions provides its Sydney customers. However, not only do we reline sewer pipes, we also reline storm water drains, downpipes, electrical lines, culverts, trade waste and lines that carry chemicals.

We can also repair horizontal, vertical and concealed pipes and junctions. We can rehabilitate boundary traps and cast iron stacks in apartment buildings.

Pipe relining can fix pool pipes, but only if the existing pipe work is straight. Due to the small diameter of pool piping (usually 40mm), it isn’t possible to reline pool pipes containing multiple bends or are comprised of more complex pipe systems.

Brawoliner is the most flexible liner in the world. It is perfectly designed for Australian pipe work that has multiple bends. The only exception is pool piping due to its small diameter.

Pipe relining typically does not result in a significant reduction in pipe flow. Many relining systems are designed to improve the flow of water or waste through your plumbing system. The new inner surface of the relined pipe is typically smoother than the original surface, which reduces turbulence and friction and improves the flow of water or waste through the pipe.

It is important to note that the effectiveness of pipe relining in improving flow will depend on several factors, including the size and shape of the original pipe, the type of relining material used, and the quality of the relining process.

While pipe relining may result in a small reduction in flow, it is generally not significant, and many relining systems are designed to improve the flow of waste through your plumbing system.

If you are concerned about the impact of relining on your plumbing system, we recommend you consult a qualified and experienced relining installer who can inspect your drainage system and provide you with the best solution for your requirements.

We chose the Brawoliner relining system because it has been the number one performer in strict quality control tests in Germany, Europe and the UK. It is Watermarked approved for Australian pipe work.

Brawoliner’s patented liner is the most flexible in the world. This makes Brawoliner the perfect product for Australia’s plumbing systems that contains multiple bends and changes in diameter.

Inversion relining occurs with the use of a specialised drum. This drum is used to turn the liner inside out as it progresses through the host pipe with the aid of compressed air.

The inversion process ensures that the epoxy soaked side of the liner makes contact with, and adheres to, the host pipe. This reduces the potential for the liner to shrink or deflate inside the host pipe and results in a quality finish. Find out more about how pipe relining works.

Pipe Relining Solutions is trained to install Brawoliner. We trained at the Brawoliner factory in Germany in 2009 and 2012. Since then Pipe Relining Solutions has been installing Brawoliner on a daily basis. Our thorough understanding of and extensive experience with this relining system enables us to complete the most complex and challenging of jobs.

Pipe Relining Solutions is a Brawoliner certified installer. We were was certified by Brawoliner to install its product in 2009.

The inversion process used with pipe relining

  1. ensures that any gaps or cracks in the host pipe are filled with resin thereby preventing the entry of roots and liner shrinkage.
  2. The inversion process produces an equal wall thickness of the complete length and radius to produce a high quality, final product.
  3. The smooth inner surface of the reline facilitates the flow of effluent/sewerage virtually eliminating the likelihood of blockages.
  4. The inversion method is versatile; it only requires one access point.

The alternative method is ‘drag-in’ where the liner is pulled into place.

  1. The omission of compressed air used in this method cannot guarantee an end product of equal wall thickness throughout the length and radius of the relined pipe work.
  2. As the resin is applied on the inside of the liner it does not have contact with the host pipe. The lack of adherence to the host pipe can result in shrinkage.
  3. Drag-in methods are less versatile because they require 2 access points to position the liner into the affected pipe work.

Brawo resin is epoxy resin that has been optimised for use with the Brawoliner system.

  1. It has high abrasion and chemical resistance and is free of solvents.
  2. It has 50-year durability and is environmentally friendly when hardened.
  3. Its excellent mechanical properties ensure that it doesn’t shrink in the host pipe like some other resins such as polyester (shrinkage can allow roots to grow back between the liner and the host pipe).
  4. Polyester resins (as opposed to epoxy resins) are known to be carcinogenic.

The Brawoliner relining system uses a combination of a strong, seamless liner woven with environmentally friendly fibres and epoxy resin which is non carcinogenic.

If installed by a certified, trained technician, the resin used with the Brawoliner system should not leak into storm water systems or contaminate waterways.

As relining completely seals the pipe work, any waste that was leaching into the subsoil around the pipework is halted, reducing the impact on the environment significantly.

Left alone this can become a major health hazard, not only for humans but any wildlife in the local vicinity.

For inversion relining, an access area of 500mm by 350mm is required to insert the Brawoliner inversion drum. The advantage of using the Brawoliner inversion drum is that only one access point is required (as opposed to two access points required for the drag-in method).

Occasionally, if broken pipe work is difficult to access for pipe relining, a small access area will need to be excavated.

Tree roots usually access pipe work through damaged or weak sections of PVC or earthenware pipe. The best method of protecting your sewer or stormwater pipes from frequent root damage is through pipe relining.

Pipe relining, via the inversion method, is installed in one seamless length of liner. The epoxy resin is applied to the outside of the liner and makes contact directly with the host pipe. The resin then seeps into the weak cracks and joins to provide a barrier against further tree root intrusion.

For smaller leaks or cracks in pipes that don’t need complete restoration, we offer pipe patching solutions. Using patching techniques, we reline sections of pipe that stop and start at a fixed point.

However, it must be noted that this is a band aid solution: Tree roots often return at the locations before and after the fixed points.

Pipe patching therefore is not cost effective in locations where tree roots aggressively enter drainage systems.

If you are unsure whether your pipes are being targeted by tree roots, it’s best to consult a drain plumber who can conduct a thorough investigation of your plumbing system and provide the best drainage solution for your situation.

How long the relining process takes will depend on the extent of the repairs.

Most residential sewer and storm water repair jobs can be completed in just one day. The pipe lining process itself takes on average 8 hours and the resin itself cures in 2. After this, the pipe is ready to use.

During sewer drain relining, it’s critical that you don’t run any water including toilets, showers, basins, dishwashers or washing machines etc..

If water enters the sewer line whilst sewer relining is taking place, the integrity of the reline could be severely degraded resulting in its total collapse.

Invasive tree roots are the main cause of blocked or damaged drains in Sydney.

If you’re experiencing blocked drains due to tree roots, engage a drain plumber to clear the roots using a high pressure water jet. It’s also a good idea to request a camera inspection so you can understand the location where the roots are entering the pipe work.

Once cleaned, your plumber may recommend pipe relining to avoid future tree root blockages.

Pipe relining creates a new inner surface within an existing damaged pipe, sealing off any cracks or holes. This new surface is typically made of a flexible, durable material that’s resistant to tree roots. The roots are unable to penetrate this liner, preventing them from growing into the pipe and causing blockages.

That’s where we come in. Our relining solution is so robust that it protects your pipes against tree-root penetration for at least 35 years.

While cleaning pipes is a good way to remove blockages and improve the flow of waste through your plumbing system, it may not be the best solution for repairing more serious issues, such as cracks, corrosion, or root intrusion.

Cleaning may provide temporary relief, but it doesn’t address the underlying problem, and the damage to your pipes will likely persist or worsen over time. Additionally, repeated cleaning can be time-consuming, expensive, and disruptive to your daily routine.
On the other hand, Pipe relining provides a permanent solution for repairing damaged pipes and can be a more cost-effective, time-efficient, and minimally invasive way to extend the lifespan of your pipes and restore the flow of water or waste through your plumbing system.

So while cleaning pipes can be a good way to remove blockages, it may not be the best solution for repairing more serious issues with your drainage system.

Relining provides a solution for pipes that are damaged or have partially collapsed, as the new liner can be designed to reinforce the existing structure and restore the integrity of the pipe.

It’s important to note that the feasibility of relining a collapsed pipe will depend on several factors, including the size and shape of the original pipe and the extent of the damage.

In  most cases, a collapsed pipe will be too severely damaged to be relined, and other solutions, such as excavation and replacement, will need to be considered.

If you have a collapsed pipe, it is best to consult a drainage expert who can provide a thorough investigation of your pipe work and the best solution for your needs.

The decision of whether relined pipes or PVC (polyvinyl chloride) pipes are better will depend on several factors, including the specific needs of your plumbing system, the type and extent of damage, and your budget and preferences.

Relining can provide a quick and efficient solution for damaged pipes, as it involves inserting a new liner into the existing pipe to repair any cracks, holes, or other damage, without the need for excavation. Relining is often less disruptive than excavation and replacement and can be a cost-effective alternative for repairing pipes that are still in good condition.

On the other hand, PVC pipes are a popular choice for new plumbing systems because of their durability, ease of installation, and resistance to corrosion and damage from chemicals. PVC pipes can also be used to replace damaged pipes, but the process can be more time-consuming and disruptive than relining.

Either way, the effectiveness of the repairs via pipe relining or using PVC will depend on the quality of materials and equipment used, and the skill and experience of the plumber performing the work.

Quite often we encounter PVC pipes that have been installed poorly – without gluing the joins properly – resulting in tree roots penetrating the joins. We then get asked to reline over these vulnerable joins.

Pipes relined by Pipe Relining Solutions are watertight, have an optimal flow rate and are structurally tougher than PVC to protect against things like tree root penetration. For this reason, we only provide a 1 year guarantee on newly installed PVC versus our 35 year guarantee on our relining work.

Pipe patching is a temporary fix that involves covering a small hole or crack in a pipe. It can be a quick and inexpensive solution if the damage is limited to a small area. However, it doesn’t address underlying problems with the pipe and is likely to deteriorate over time.

Pipe relining, on the other hand, provides a more long-lasting solution. It involves installing a new inner surface within the damaged pipe, effectively creating a new pipe within the old one. This solution is more durable and can help extend the life of the pipe for up to 50 years. Pipe relining is often a better choice for pipes that have extensive damage or are severely degraded.

Pipe Relining Solutions always recommends pipe relining over patching.

Experience has taught us that patching is a ‘band-aid’ fix, not a long term solution as tree roots can infiltrate the line either side of the patch. In instances where tree roots are highly prevalent, we will refuse to patch-repair pipe work because we know it will only fix the problem for a number of months – not years.
